Online dating conman who posed as a doctor and lawyer faces jail
Online dating fraudsters who pose as a doctor or a lawyer are bad medicine for victims.
Ramzy Alwakeel of the London Evening Standard reports that Amir Tofangsazan, 27, created various fake profiles over two years to scam women into starting relationships with him and then loan him money. From the story:
When they confronted him, he would turn defensive, sometimes accusing the women themselves of stealing before ending the relationships.
Police today issued an anonymous statement on behalf of one of the women he targeted.
"Even though he is now behind bars, it will still be a difficult journey to overcome the emotional pain he has caused me," it reads.
"I have been scared to the point that I find it difficult to trust others - and, more importantly, to trust my judgement about others."
Brazenly, he even involved the police, claiming one of his victims had taken £300 from him.
Tofangsazan was convicted for his crimes and faces seven years and seven months in prison, the story says. Check out the story for more on how Tofangsazan operated.
